A few tips

  • If you can, go in June or September. The coast and the Mazury lakes are calmer then, places to stay usually cost less and a quiet patch of beach is easier to find.
  • In the mountains, hit the trail early. Summer afternoons often bring thunderstorms, and by then you want to be in a mountain hut or down in the valley, not on a ridge.
  • Before choosing, tell each other honestly whether you want a beach-chair vacation or an active one. A split day often works best: a trail or bike ride in the morning, then a lazy afternoon.
Where should couples go on a summer trip in Poland?

The classic picks are the Baltic coast, the lakes of Mazury (Masuria) and Kaszuby (Kashubia), and the mountains, from the Tatras to the Bieszczady. For a weekend, choose somewhere a few hours away and save farther regions for a longer vacation.

Where in Poland can you avoid summer crowds?

The quietest regions are away from big resorts: Podlasie in the east, Roztocze, Warmia and the Beskid Niski hills. You can find calm on the coast and at the foot of the Tatras too if you pick a smaller village and head out early.

When should you book a summer trip in Poland?

For July and August, book a few months ahead, especially by the sea, in Mazury and in Zakopane, where the best places go fast. Before paying a deposit, check the map, since “close to the beach” can mean many things.
